Do it like you're scared.

Good morning and top of the top, God is the greatest… how you doing?

That’s a fasho on how I start my day, and so I wanna bring y’all in on the fold and give you a little something that was given to me this weekend. This past Sunday, I went to visit my Mimi and Uncle Ricky at his church, and while I lit up when I saw Mimi and she blew me a kiss, I didn’t see Uncle Ricky… I was thinking, well maybe he’s in the back, tryna figure out which Jordan suit to preach in today….

but….

I was lowkey 5 mins late already, and Uncle Ricky doesn’t do late… The choir finished their intro records, and that soft hymnal started playing in the background… everybody knows that means the preacher is on the way… govern yourself accordingly boys… It’s game time.

Up off the 1st pew from the side pocket… Standing 6’2.. bout 2 and some and some change (we gone be respectful nih)… darkskin and waves… It’s my little big cousin PJ.

Uncle Ricky’s son… uncle ricky #2.. Petty Weety…

I said, “ Ooooh… we finna get a show!”

Every time PJ preaches, it’s like watching a point guard control the offense. It’s poetry in motion. Like, you don’t have to be all churchy or religious. He understands that he’s a generational bridge. He’s able to take that information and explain it in a manner for all generations to understand. Like these ain’t yah daddy’s baked beans but they still got the same methods, techniques, even some of the same ingredients, and the youngsta’s don’t frown at it when he puts it on the table.

Sorry… had to put y’all in that spot… ok back to the story.

He went on to preach from 2 Kings 15-17… and he said.. “Do it like you’re scared”.

I was stuck for the rest of the day. Like I ain’t gonna sit here and tell y’all what he preached and how it hit and mess it up… they gotta website for you to go see that. But it hit me and it unlocked another level for me because he was talmbout FAITH.

Shortly after that sermon, I met with a client that I had designed merchandise for. I was truly excited about this project and what the company is trying to accomplish. I love it. As she took each moment to look over everything, the excitement, the joy, the vision came to life… All I could see was a person who “Did it like you’re scared.” That’s all I could see.

So I said that to say, “Do it like you’re scared”. Take that chance and invest in “YOU”, continue to follow those dreams, continue to hit that gym, whatever goal that you’re trying to accomplish… Have FAITH that God will bring you through it!

DO IT LIKE YOU’RE SCARED.
